Bespoke table and bench
A bespoke oak table and matching bench built around the honest proportions of heavy workshop furniture.
The bases are fabricated from 5 mm steel plate with 3 mm end straps, welded and dressed without erasing their industrial construction. A 40 mm solid-oak top gives the assembly warmth and enough visual weight to balance the steelwork.
The steel is chemically blackened and sealed rather than painted, leaving subtle variations from the fabrication process visible. The timber receives an oil-and-wax finish that can be maintained as the table ages.
